Google My Business (now Google Business Profile)

Google renamed it in 2021, but almost nobody in South Africa calls it anything else — Google My Business, or just GMB, is still what most people type. It is the same thing either way: the listing that puts your business on Google Maps and in the panel on the right of the search results. Why the categories matter so much

Google decides which searches to show you in largely from your primary category. A garage door installer listed as "Contractor" is invisible for "garage door repairs near me". It is a five-minute fix that most businesses never make.

Questions

Is Google My Business the same as Google Business Profile?
Yes. Google renamed Google My Business to Google Business Profile in 2021. Most people still call it GMB, and the old name is still the one most searched in South Africa. Same listing, same Maps pin, same work.
I already have a profile — can you fix it?
Yes, and that is usually the job. Most existing profiles have the wrong category, missing service areas or hours that were never updated.
Someone else set up my profile and I cannot get in.
That happens often, usually a previous marketer or an employee who left. There is a recovery process with Google to claim it back, and we run it for you.
Is this included with the website?
Profile setup is included when you take the Google review campaign, since the campaign depends on the profile being right.
