Motor & panel beating

The insurer approves the claim. The customer still picks the shop.

Most people do not know they are allowed to choose their own panel beater. The ones who find that out usually find it out on a website — and they go to whoever explained it to them.

What a workshop site has to establish

Cars are the second most expensive thing most people own, and handing the keys to a stranger is uncomfortable. Remove the discomfort in the first screen.

  • RMI membership, and which specific association within it
  • Whether you are approved by the major insurers, and which ones
  • Makes you actually specialise in — generalists rank for nothing
  • Whether servicing with you affects the manufacturer warranty (it does not, and almost nobody says so)
  • Courtesy car, collection and delivery, and what it costs
  • Warranty on workmanship, in months, in writing

The warranty myth is free business

A great many South African drivers believe they must service at the dealership until the motor plan expires, or they lose the warranty. Under the Consumer Protection Act that is not so, provided the work is done properly with the right parts. The independent workshop that explains this plainly on its own page picks up customers who never knew they had a choice.

Specialise out loud

"Full mechanical repairs on all makes" competes with every workshop in the province. "Land Rover specialists in Montague Gardens" competes with almost nobody and attracts the exact owner who is tired of dealer pricing.

Accreditation and insurance approval are the whole pitch

For panel work in particular, most customers arrive through an insurer or are checking whether you are acceptable to one. If you are RMI-affiliated, insurance-approved, or work on specific makes to manufacturer spec, that belongs high on the page rather than in a badge at the bottom.

  • RMI or other affiliation, and which insurers you work with
  • The makes you specialise in — people search by brand
  • Whether you offer a courtesy car or lift
  • Your workmanship guarantee, in months and in writing
  • Whether you handle the insurance claim paperwork yourself

Service pricing by make wins the search

“Major service price” is one search. “Polo major service price” is another, and there is far less competing for it. Workshops that publish indicative service pricing per make pick up a steady stream of work from people who were only comparing, because most competitors make them phone to find out.

What your customers actually type

These are the searches that bring work to a business like yours. Every one of them is a page, a heading or a paragraph we build for deliberately.

  • “panel beater near me”
  • “car service your suburb price”
  • “clutch replacement cost”
  • “RMI approved workshop”
  • “insurance approved panel beater”
  • “major service price your make”

Questions

Can we say servicing with us keeps the warranty valid?
You can state that under the Consumer Protection Act a manufacturer may not void a warranty purely because servicing was done by an independent workshop, provided correct parts and procedures were used. Keep it factual and keep your job cards — do not promise outcomes on the customer’s behalf.
Do we need a page for each make we service?
For the makes you genuinely specialise in, yes. That is how owners search, and a specialist page beats a generic one decisively.
Is it worth listing insurers we work with?
Very much so. It answers the customer’s real worry — whether using you will complicate the claim — before they have to ask it.
I do not want to publish prices — every job is different.
Service pricing is more predictable than repair pricing, and that is where the searches are. Publish the routine service intervals per make and keep repairs on a quote basis. You lose nothing and you get found for the things people actually type.
Should the site handle bookings?
WhatsApp is enough for most workshops. What matters far more is that the vehicle make, model and year come through with the first message, so you are not sending four messages to work out what is coming in.
We do both mechanical and panel work. One site?
One site, separate pages. They are different searches, different customers and often different decision-makers — insurance drives one and the owner drives the other.

Be the workshop they choose on purpose.
