Funeral services

Someone is on this page at 2am, and they are not browsing.

A family has just lost someone. They need to know who to phone, what it will cost and what happens next. Everything on the site should serve those three questions and nothing else.

Clarity is the kindness

This is not the place for atmosphere or long paragraphs about your heritage. People in shock cannot read them.

  • A phone number that is answered, at the very top, on every page
  • Whether you can be reached right now, at this hour
  • What to do in the first hour — most families genuinely do not know
  • Package prices, plainly, including what is and is not included
  • Repatriation, and to which provinces — this is the search for a great many South African families
  • Whether you work with burial societies and which policies you accept

Price silence does real harm here

Grieving families are afraid of being exploited, and that fear is not unfounded. A parlour that publishes its packages removes the single greatest source of anxiety in the decision, and it is chosen for exactly that reason. Ranges are acceptable; total silence is not.

Search intent is local, urgent and specific

People search "funeral parlour in [town]", "repatriation to Eastern Cape", "cremation cost". These are separate pages with separate answers. Note also that policies and covers are financial products — if you sell them, that is FSCA-regulated territory and the copy must be handled accordingly.

The person searching is in the worst week of their life

This is not a market where persuasion works. Someone has died, often hours ago, and the family needs to know who to phone and what happens next. The site’s only job is to be reachable and to reduce panic — tone matters more here than on any other kind of site we build.

  • A number that is answered at three in the morning, stated as such
  • What to do in the first few hours, written plainly
  • What you need brought — identity document, death notice, burial order
  • Whether you handle repatriation, and to where
  • Costs given honestly, because families are frightened of being taken advantage of

Publishing what it costs is a kindness and it wins work

Almost no funeral home publishes figures, which leaves families ringing round while grieving. A simple range for a standard burial and a standard cremation, clearly marked as a starting point, is one of the few genuine differentiators available in this industry. It is also what most people are searching for.

What your customers actually type

These are the searches that bring work to a business like yours. Every one of them is a page, a heading or a paragraph we build for deliberately.

  • “funeral parlour near me”
  • “24 hour funeral home your city”
  • “cremation cost South Africa”
  • “repatriation of body”
  • “funeral cover payout help”
  • “burial services your town”

Questions

Should we publish our prices?
Yes, at least as package ranges. Families fear being taken advantage of at their most vulnerable, and transparent pricing is the strongest possible answer to that fear. It also spares your staff repeating the same call twenty times a week.
Do we need a page about repatriation?
If you offer it, absolutely. Transporting a loved one home to a rural province is one of the most-searched and least-served needs in this sector.
Can we advertise funeral policies on the site?
Funeral cover is a regulated financial product. If you are an accredited provider or a tied agent, the copy has to reflect that accurately and carry the right disclosures. We will write it factually, but it should be checked against your FSCA obligations before going live.
Is it insensitive to put prices on the site?
Families tell us the opposite. Not knowing is what causes distress, and the fear of being overcharged at a vulnerable moment is real. A clearly stated starting range, with what it includes, is read as respect rather than salesmanship.
We serve several language groups. Can the site reflect that?
Yes, and it should. If you conduct services in isiZulu, Afrikaans, Sesotho or any other language, say so — it is often the deciding factor and almost nobody states it.
Can you keep photography out of it?
Entirely, if you prefer. Many of the best sites in this sector carry almost no imagery. We build to whatever tone you are comfortable standing behind.
